Austen Davis has served as an adviser on health issues in the Norwegian Development Agency (Norad) since 2013. Austen is responsible for working on investments in diverse areas including information and accountability, maternal and newborn care, global health security and risk factors related to health (e.g. nutrition, water/sanitation, clean air, clean energy, education). Previously Austen has worked for Medecins sans Frontieres in a range of different positions and countries and latterly served as the General Director for MSF Holland between 1999 and 2004. Austen subsequently worked for UNICEF in Somalia, the Norwegian Refugee Council and as a consultant.
With a background in nutrition and health policy as well as practical experience managing projects and investments in humanitarian and development contexts, Austen has a broad set of experiences and interests – and is particularly interested in operationalizing theory into effective practice.
