Dr. Eduardo “Dodo” P. Banzon is the Principal Health Specialist at the Asian Development Bank. He was also a Clinical Associate Professor of the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Medicine; Research Associate Professor of the UP-National Institutes of Health; a faculty member of the Ateneo Graduate School of Business; and adjunct faculty in the Asian Institute of Management and Ateneo School of Government.
He champions universal health coverage (UHC) and has long provided technical support to countries in Asia and the Pacific in their pursuit of UHC. Previously, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), World Health Organization (WHO) regional adviser for health financing in the Eastern Mediterranean region, World Bank senior health specialist, WHO health economist for Bangladesh, PhilHealth Vice President for Health Finance Policy and Services sector, and a faculty member of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine and Ateneo de Manila University Graduate School of Business and adjunct faculty in the Asian Institute of Management and the Ateneo de Manila University.
He holds a Medical Doctor degree from UP College of Medicine and an MSc in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the London School of Economics and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
