Peter Hansen is the Head of Technical Advice and Partnerships at the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, where he leads an initiative to strengthen the quality and efficiency of programs. Previously he served as the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. He has a PhD in International Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Masters in East Asian Studies from Stanford University. He completed his doctoral research on the quality of health service delivery in Afghanistan, where he also served as the Country Director for Johns Hopkins University programs. Previously he worked for a Non-Governmental Organization in China on basic health services, hepatitis B vaccination and HIV, and as a consultant to the World Health Organization. In the latter capacity, he helped develop a manager-led approach to assessing and improving the quality of reproductive health programs.
